Event Details
As part of its Silver Jubilee Celebrations, the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bengaluru, is organizing a one-day Research Minisymposium on “Advancing Genome Editing” on 28 February 2026 at the IBAB Auditorium.
Genome editing technologies, particularly CRISPR – Cas systems, have transformed biological research by enabling precise manipulation of genetic information. These tools are now central to advances in functional genomics, disease modeling, therapeutics, agriculture, and synthetic biology. This minisymposium aims to provide a focused forum to discuss recent developments, applications, and challenges in genome editing, bringing together researchers from academia, research institutions, startups, and industry.
The program features a keynote lecture by Dr. Debojyoti Chakraborty (CSIR – IGIB, New Delhi), followed by invited scientific talks covering diverse aspects of genome editing, including tool development, functional studies, and translational applications. A student poster session will offer early-career researchers an opportunity to present their work and interact with experts in the field.
The symposium will conclude with a panel discussion titled “Rewriting Life: The Ethics of Genome Editing in the Modern World”, addressing ethical, societal, and regulatory considerations surrounding genome editing technologies.
The event is open to students, researchers, and professionals interested in genome editing and related interdisciplinary areas.
Abstract submission deadline: 23 February 2026
Registration deadline: 25 February 2026
