To enhance the participation of Women Scientists in Biotechnology Research, the Department of Biotechnology invites the Letter of Intents (LOIs) under the BioCARe scheme for Women Scientists upto age of 55 years. The programme is targeted towards Career Development of unemployed/not in regular position women scientists.
The scheme is open for following areas of Biotechnology- Animal and Marine Biotechnology; Bioengineering and Biomaterials; Medical Biotechnology; Environmental Biotechnology and Bioenergy & Plant and Agriculture Biotechnology and allied areas.
The research support will be provided only to women scientists (unemployed/not in regular position) for whom this is the first extramural research grant (Women Scientists who have received any earlier grant from any Government Funding Agency as Principal Investigator are not eligible).
The duration of the project will be maximum 3 years.
Interested women candidates may submit a Letter of Intent through e-PROMIS portal of the Department (https://dbtepromis.nic.in). ]]>International Travel Support (ITS) Scheme provides financial assistance to Indian researchers for presenting a research paper in an international scientific event (conference, seminar, workshop etc.) held abroad. In addition, support is also provided to young scientists (age limit below 35 years as on date of start of the event) for attending training programmes, Short-term schools and Workshops. Economy class air-fare by shortest route, airport-tax and visa fees are provided under the scheme.
Registration fee as per actual or Rs. 50,000/- whichever is less will be provided to young scientist (Age< 35 on the date of start of event) in addition to the above support. Applications can be submitted within the window of 60-90 days in advance from the date of start of the event. The system will not accept early or late submission of applications. However, applicant who has already submitted a proposal will not be eligible to apply again within next 90 days from the date of submission of the first application.
Eligibility :
This scheme provides to & fro economic class air fare by the shortest route, airport tax and visa fees for attending the specific event. Registration fee as per actual or Rs. 50,000/- whichever is less will be provided to young scientist (Age< 35 on the date of start of event) in addition to the above support. The support is provided on reimbursement basis as per actual expenditure incurred by the applicant within the guidelines of the scheme. However, Taxi fare will not be reimbursed.

]]>Application for support to undertake research training during the doctoral research in Overseas Universities on a competitive mode is sought from eligible researchers.
The selected fellows will be paid a monthly fellowship amount equivalent to US $ 2000, one-time Contingency / Preparatory allowances of Rs. 60,000/- to cover visa fee, airport transfer charges, medical insurance etc. The selected fellows will also be provided shortest route economy class air fare from their place of work in India to the place of the host institute and back. Students should make their own arrangement for accommodation etc.
Applications are invited from Ph.D. students to work with Overseas Institutions who had signed an Agreement / MoU with SERB for student mobility.
The selection would be made among students who obtained an offer letter from overseas institution to carry out research in chosen areas of interest to India. The applicants who intend to undertake research visit to the following Universities with whom SERB had signed MoU should apply directly to the University.

]]>Eklavya Education Foundation, an Ahmedabad based non-governmental, not-for-profit organization has provided a grant to Ignite Life Science Foundation to provide travel grants to young Indian scientists.
The purpose of the grant is to enable early career scientists to present their work to international audiences and gain experience and confidence. Science is a collaborative enterprise and international collaborations beyond national boundaries are helping to accelerate scientific output by assembling complementary resources and expertise. Hence it is important for scientists to gain international experience early in their careers.

Program Objectives
The Eiffel scholarship program is a tool developed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist French institutions of higher education in attracting the best foreign students to Master’s and Doctoral/Phd degree programs.

The Inspiring Science Award aims to recognize and reward quality science, inspire scholarship, and support researchers to pursue their passion in the Life Sciences by selecting the best published paper in the Life Sciences by a student from India each year.
The idea for this award was brought forth to us by Professor Anuranjan Anand of JNCASR and we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to him for helping extend the impact of the lecture series in promoting young Indian scientists.
The Award’s jury comprises over 40 eminent scientists from across the country, organised in four geographic panels to avoid conflict of interest issues. Every paper is evaluated by a minimum of three jury members. The top two papers from each panel are evaluated again by panel chairs, and two internationally renowned scientists who are independent of the jury process. We do not make any information on the jury publicly available.

]]>Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the “Clinical Research Training Program Fellowship” in the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance supported clinical research centre “Scaling-up The Competency of Primary Care Workers to Manage Epilepsy by Task-Sharing (STOP-Epilepsy)”. This fellowship program is initiated with an emphasis on public health aspects of neurological and mental health disorders, with a focus on epilepsy. This program would be jointly carried out at the Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, The George Institute for Global Health India, New Delhi, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. Each fellow will be primarily placed in one of four institutes.
The programme would fund mentored research training fellowships for medical graduates (MBBS) and post-graduates (MD/MS/MPH/equivalent):
3.5 years extendable up to 4 years (It is mandatory for the fellows to complete the objectives of the training program to be eligible for fellowship certificate)
INR 50 lakhs will include personal support and training costs for the complete duration of the fellowship.
