Profile

The Tata Institute for Genetics and society, Centre at InStem (TIGS-CI) is a collaborative institution established to address some of India’s most pressing issues ranging from healthcare to agriculture. TIGS-CI is seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates to join as research assistant in the Stem cell biology team. Successful candidates will be involved in ongoing research programs on human embryonic and adult stem cell models to study hematopoietic differentiation and associated disease mechanisms.

Research Assistant (RA-06): To support stem cell, RNA biology and genome editing platforms.

The selected candidates will use cell based models to identify CRISPR-Cas based genome
editing strategies that can potentially alleviate disease mechanisms associated with
hemoglobinopathies. Also, they will be involved in identifying the function of novel RNA
modifying proteins in regulating pluripotency and hematopoietic differentiation.

Number of positions: 02

Duration

Initially for One year and extension based on satisfactory review.

Qualification

Master’s degree in any branch of biological science with 1 – 2 years of relevant research experience. 

Experience

  • Preference will be given to the candidates with experience in cell culture, transfection and molecular biology techniques like vector construction.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team, and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills are required.
