Job Requirements:
i) Develop and implement standard operating procedure (SOP) for the use of the laboratory mice.

ii) Provide orientation to new users in the humane use, care and handling of laboratory mice.

iii) Participate in the formation and organization of IAEC meetings, reviewing animal research protocols for TIFR‑H investigators.

iv) Oversee mouse husbandry, assist users in their animal related procedures like sample collection, injections, methods of animal identification, euthanasia of animals, SPF health monitoring procedures, etc.

v) Arrange import and export of live laboratory mice, animal health monitoring, organizing animal ethics committee meetings and record keeping as per CPCSEA guidelines (GOI).

vi) May be required to attend training courses within India or abroad, as per requirements of the researchers.

vii) Should be available for emergency veterinary care after work hours, on weekends, and on holidays.

viii) Participate in the setup and maintenance of a state-of-the-art Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) Barrier Mouse Facility at TIFR Hyderabad.

ix) Coordinate and collaborate with a team of animal care takers and housekeeping staff.

Duration

Temporary for one year and may be renewed each year upto a total period of three years depending upon performance and requirement.

Money

Higher salary can be considered commensurate with experience.

Qualification

Essential Qualifications:

i) Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) with minimum 60% marks (in aggregate) with a valid registration in Veterinary Council of India.
ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.

Desirable Qualifications:

i) MVSc. with 1 year experience in laboratory mouse handling/​maintenance/​research.
ii) Experience in laboratory mouse health and genetic screening techniques.
iii) Knowledge of CPCSEA guidelines.
iv) Good command of written and verbal communication in English.

Experience

Essential Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in

i) Breeding and maintenance of laboratory mice
ii) Training in laboratory mouse handling and experimentation.
