IndiaBioscience is a program based out of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore that aims to catalyse the growth of biology within India, and to this end, we work with academics, government, industry and the not-for-profit sector. The major funding of the program is from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. As part of the DBT funded program, IndiaBioscience is looking to appoint eligible personnel to the position advertised on contractual terms. The appointment will be initially for a period of one (1) year that may be extended up to three (3) years depending on the performance of the selected candidate. Selected candidates shall be offered a consolidated pay as specified under ​‘Salary’ herein below.

Major activities at IndiaBioscience include running the IndiaBioscience website through the science and education communication programs, continually updating with the latest news and opinions on life sciences scenario in India, building a database of people and organizations, organizing Young Investigators’ Meetings (YIMs) and Regional Young Investigators’ Meetings, networking meetings with Indian or International organizations, workshops on skill-building, gender parity, promoting Indian life science in various platforms all over the world, etc.

Role Summary

Operating with the Program Managers Science Communication and Digital Initiatives, the Project Associate- Science Communication & Digital Outreach will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in the activities of the relevant verticals of IndiaBioscience.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will be involved in co-hosting of all webinars conducted by IndiaBioscience

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will be in charge of the post webinar video editing and webinar analytics

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will edit the podcasts recorded for IndiaBiospeaks

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will generate publicity material for the podcasts and webinars such as audiograms, videoclips and social media blurbs

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will work with the Program Manager-Digital Initiatives to adapt the skill building workshops for a digital platform

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will liaise with freelance and guest writers to maintain the proposed timeline for submission of content

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will be involved in the designing and formatting of any booklets/​compendium/​publications created

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will moderate the science communication discussion forum

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will plan and execute interactive sessions on social media such as AMA and Q&A sessions

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will liaise with local organisers about the logistics of conducting skill building workshops (online or offline) and will be trained as a trainer for the CYC workshops.

• Project Associate – Science Communication and Digital Outreach will participate in all common IBS activities

Personal characteristics: Adaptability and flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to work in a team, organizational skills, time management, digital media and communication skills

Age: 35 years

Remuneration will be equivalent to Project Associate-II as per DST OM No. SR/S9/Z‑05/2019 dated 10^th July 2020

Masters Degree in sciences with minimum 2 years relevant experience post qualification. 

Relevant experience in communication and understanding of digital media.
