The candidate is expected to deliver on the required project objectives. The DST-Indo French collaborative CEFIPRA project titled ‘Mapping Structure Function Relationships of the Sodium Transporter HKT1; 5 in Oryza Species for new determinants of Salinity Tolerance’.
The project will examine sodium transporter variation in cultivated rice and also within the genus Oryza through sequence mining, cloning, bioinformatics modelling and assessment of sodium transporting function in heterologous expression system(s). The selected candidate will also have an opportunity to obtain short term training in functional transporter assays in heterologous using electrophysiology (two-electrode voltage-clamp) in a collaborator’s laboratory in France.
The position is purely on temporary, contractual basis with a maximum duration of three years. The position is co-terminus with the project.

]]>Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the post of project-JRF/Project Assistant in the research area of circadian biology under the MoES Project to understand the stress related perturbance in circadian regulation of physiology and biochemistry in phytoplanktons.
Project Description: Many key physiological processes are driven by the endogenous circadian clock. Using simple unicellular marine phytoplanktons this project aims to understand how increase in temperature and dissolved carbon dioxide impinge on the circadian clock driven physiology and biochemistry in these single celled marine organisms. They will employ biochemical, microscopy, molecular biology and high throughput -omics tools to study the stress driven changes in circadian physiology.
Apart from the project the person will assist in daily operations of the laboratory that includes maintenance of project related inventories and ordering of consumables. Appropriate training and supervision specific to the project will be provided.
Three years (initially for six months, which is extendable to up to 3 years based on satisfactory performance and mutual interest).
As per DST norms (Candidates without NET/GATE qualification may be considered for project assistant post with reduced salary as per MoES/DST rule).
Candidates with hands-on research experience and ability to generate and handle large scale NGS data will be preferred. Working knowledge in biochemical, molecular biology assay, bioinformatics and previous knowledge of protein related work is desired but not mandatory.
