The Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are designed for early-career faculty and researchers in India, offering an opportunity to enhance their research capabilities. Postdoctoral fellows will have access to some of the finest resources in their areas of interest and will help build long-term collaborative relationships with U.S. faculty and institutions. These fellowships are for eight to 24 months.

Qualifications

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) announces the Summer Research Fellowship aimed at encouraging research in the Natural Sciences and Engineering among undergraduate and master’s students from the seven sister states of Northeast India. It is designed to promote research exposure and scientific engagement among talented undergraduate and postgraduate students by providing them with an opportunity to undertake short-term research projects under the guidance of experienced faculty mentors working in the fields of Natural Sciences and Engineering.

The programme enables the selected students to undertake an 8-week research internship under the guidance of faculty mentors from institutions across the Northeast, with possible collaborative exposure at JNCASR, Bengaluru. Students of the North Eastern region pursuing B.Sc., B.Tech., M.Sc., MBBS, or similar degree programmes in the country are eligible to apply.

Selected fellows will receive a fellowship of ₹20,000 upon successful completion of the internship, along with travel support (as per the eligibility) up to ₹5,000 per annum. Additional travel assistance will also be provided for students undertaking collaborative research work at JNCASR, Bengaluru.

Through this partnership between JNCASR & academic institutes of the North East, India, we aim to strengthen academic and research collaborations and thus create opportunities for young students to interact with active researchers and scientific communities.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, a Fulbright exchange, was established in 1978 to advance U.S. foreign policy goals through the exchange of mid-career professionals representing over 100 eligible countries from all world regions. Humphrey fellows and alumni develop expertise in fields critical to U.S. foreign policy and gain direct experience with American institutions, standards, and perspectives. They use this knowledge to shape national policy, promote stability, and foster long-term cooperation with the United States.

During their fellowship, Humphrey fellows participate in non-degree study at approximately eight host campuses across the United States and complete at least six weeks of a professional affiliation at a U.S.-based private sector, governmental, non-governmental, or international organization. Through their academic and professional experiences, Fellows gain knowledge about the United States, deepen their professional expertise and experience in fields of strategic importance to the United States, and expand their networks to include U.S. counterparts.

The program is designed to meet the requirements of policymakers, planners, administrators, and managers in the government, public and private sectors, and non-governmental organizations, who have a public service commitment, demonstrated leadership potential, and commitment to their own country's development.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an equivalent of a U.S. 4-year bachelor’s or undergraduate degree. Applicants must either possess a four-year bachelor's degree or a completed master's degree; or a full-time postgraduate diploma, if the bachelor's degree is of less than four years' duration;
• Must have at least five years of full-time professional experience prior to August 2026 and be eligible for leave;
• Have management or policy responsibilities, including for those who are university teachers and/or teachers of English as a foreign language.
• Should have demonstrated leadership qualities;
• Should have a record of public service in the community; and
• Must give an undertaking to return to India on completion of the fellowship.

The Sun Pharma Science Foundation Science Scholar Fellowships-2026

There are four Fellowships, two each in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Value of each scholar fellowship is Rs. 100,000/- (Rupees One Lakh). INSPIRE offers an opportunity for pursuing Doctoral Research at any recognized University or Institute in India through Fellowships at the same level as National Eligibility Test (NET) qualified candidates. The INSPIRE Fellowship component of the INSPIRE Program is focused on attracting students to pursue a regular doctoral degree in basic and applied sciences, including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc., after either Master’s / Bachelor’s degree (minimum 4 years or 8 semesters) in Science/ Applied Science/ Engineering/ Medicine.

Money

There is a provision of 1000 INSPIRE Fellowships to be offered to eligible students against the INSPIRE Fellowship-2025 call and each Fellowship is tenable for a maximum period of five years or completion of the PhD viva-voce, whichever is earlier. This Fellowship shall not be available to pursue M.Sc. or M.Phil. or M. Tech. course while pursing Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D./ M. Phil.-Ph.D./ M.Tech.-Ph.D. courses.

The fellowship provides tuition and fees, a monthly maintenance allowance, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, a modest allowance for books and supplies, round-trip international air travel to the host institution, and allowances for professional activities such as field trips, professional visits, and conferences. These fellowships do not provide an allowance for dependents, and the stipend provided under the grant is not sufficient to support family members. The program will involve a number of activities where it will be difficult to include dependents.

The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships are designed to build long-term capacity to address global challenges and develop innovative solutions in key priority areas in both India and the U.S. They encourage proposals that are futuristic, innovative and technology focused.

Selected scholars will have the opportunity to conduct research, audit non-degree courses at U.S. academic institutions to enhance their knowledge and gain practical work experience in suitable settings in the U.S.

These fellowships are designed for Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. These fellowships are for six to nine months.

Money

The fellowships provide J-1 visa support, a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, round-trip economy class air travel, applicable allowances and modest affiliation fees, if any. No allowances are provided for dependents. The grant is not sufficient to support family members.

Qualifications

In addition to the General Prerequisites

• This grant is intended for Ph.D. students to conduct research essential to their dissertations/thesis. Therefore, the expected Ph.D. thesis submission date should be at least three months after the Fulbright-Nehru grant end date. For example, if May 2028 is the grant end date, the applicant cannot submit their thesis before August 2028. Please indicate the Ph.D. registration date and the expected Ph.D. thesis submission date in the Applicant Annexure.
• The applicant should provide clear justification on the need for undertaking research in the U.S. and the U.S. institution identified for the research. They should have done reasonable study pertaining to their research objectives, especially in the identification of resources in India and the U.S.
• Applicant must be registered for Ph.D. at an Indian institution on or before November 1, 2025. On the online application form, one of the recommendation letters must be from the Ph.D. supervisor that comments on applicants’ research, need for the fellowship, and must indicate the Ph.D. registration date and topic.
• If the applicant is employed, they must follow the instructions carefully regarding employer’s endorsement. If applicable, please obtain the endorsement from the appropriate administrative authority on the FNDR Employer’s Endorsement Form. The employer must indicate that leave will be granted for the fellowship period; and
• The applicant must upload a copy of the original published/presented paper or extracts from the Masters’/M.Phil. thesis on the online application form (not exceeding 20 pages).
• Employees of the Government of India and Indian State Governments are not eligible for any Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships. ANRF Catalytic Partnership Program is a highly selective funding scheme intended to catalyse the establishment of new, large-scale research and innovation institutions or centres through deep and sustained public-private partnerships. The program enables the development of new institutional platforms, such as world class research laboratories, venture-builder institutions, and collaborative research centres anchored with universities, national research laboratories, research parks or in partnerships with other Ministries, Departments and State Governments.

The program is designed to provide limited but high-leverage funding to enable research that would not otherwise materialise at the proposed scale without the involvement of ANRF.

ANRF's support is intended to anchor, de-risk, and unlock substantial non-governmental investments and facilitate the creation of enduring institutional capabilities of national importance.

Objectives
The program seeks to:

• Create new and differentiated research and innovation institutions with long-term mandates and global ambition.
• Establish deep research partnerships between academic/research institutions, private capital, regional or other support.
• Enable transformational research and translational outcomes at scale, including deep-tech innovation ecosystems.
• Promote financial self-sustainability.

ANRF 'Catalytic' Support
For the purpose of this program, 'catalytic' support refers to ANRF's role in enabling or accelerating the establishment of new institutional partnerships and research entities by:

• Enabling convergence of multiple public, private, and philanthropic partners into a single institutional platform.
• Anchoring governance frameworks that enhance credibility and investor confidence to participate in national research ecosystems.
• Supporting early stage institutional stabilisation and capacity building.

Money

• ANRF support shall typically constitute 10-20% of the total program cost and shall be disbursed over a period of up to five years.
• Non-ANRF funding may include private capital, CSR funding, philanthropy, alumni or diaspora endowments, infrastructure support, and in-kind contributions.
• All supported entities shall acknowledge ANRF support and be designated as "Catalysed by ANRF" in official communications.

This initiative aims to strengthen education and research in Biotechnology in the North Eastern Region. Profile

The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships are designed to build long-term capacity to address global challenges and develop innovative solutions in key priority areas in both India and the U.S. We encourage proposals that are futuristic, innovative and technology focused.

Selected scholars will have the opportunity to conduct research, audit non-degree courses at U.S. academic institutions to enhance their knowledge and gain practical work experience in suitable settings in the U.S.

These fellowships are designed for Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. These fellowships are for six to nine months.

Money

The fellowships provide J-1 visa support, a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, round-trip economy class air travel, applicable allowances and modest affiliation fees, if any. No allowances are provided for dependents. The grant is not sufficient to support family members.

Qualifications

• This grant is intended for Ph.D. students to conduct research essential to their dissertations/thesis. Therefore, the expected Ph.D. thesis submission date should be at least three months after the Fulbright-Nehru grant end date. For example, if May 2028 is the grant end date, the applicant cannot submit their thesis before August 2028. Please indicate the Ph.D. registration date and the expected Ph.D. thesis submission date in the Applicant Annexure.
• The applicant should provide clear justification on the need for undertaking research in the U.S. and the U.S. institution identified for the research. They should have done reasonable study pertaining to their research objectives, especially in the identification of resources in India and the U.S.
• Applicant must be registered for Ph.D. at an Indian institution on or before November 1, 2025. On the online application form, one of the recommendation letters must be from the Ph.D. supervisor that comments on applicants’ research, need for the fellowship, and must indicate the Ph.D. registration date and topic.
• If the applicant is employed, they must follow the instructions carefully regarding employer’s endorsement. If applicable, please obtain the endorsement from the appropriate administrative authority on the FNDR Employer’s Endorsement Form. The employer must indicate that leave will be granted for the fellowship period; and
• The applicant must upload a copy of the original published/presented paper or extracts from the Masters’/M.Phil. thesis on the online application form (not exceeding 20 pages).
• Employees of the Government of India and Indian State Governments are not eligible for any Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships. This includes civil servants in central services (such as IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, and allied services), state government services (including state civil services), and bureaucratic staff employed in central and state ministries or departments. However, researchers, scientists, and academicians from CSIR, ICAR, ICGEB, DRDO, ISRO, ICMR, DBT institutions, DST laboratories, BARC, IISc, and IITs, as well as other centrally funded government institutions and universities, are eligible to apply.

Note: These fellowships are for pre-doctoral level research. Applicants with Ph.D. degrees or those at the final stage of Ph.D. thesis submission will not be considered.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, invites proposals from eligible universities, academic insitutes, research organizations and medical/agricultural institutions for the establishment or up-gradation of Bioinformatics Centers under BIO-GRID to support advanced research and training in life sciences, biotechnology and health.

Money

• The Department envisages grants-in-aid support to ambitious and focused Projects of up to 5 years duration. The budgetary requirement per project shall not exceed ₹ 5.00 Cr
• Non-Recurring Budget should not be more than 30% of the total proposed cost and should mainly include compute and storage infrastructure-related budget.
• Grant Components:

1. GIA-Capital (Non-Recurring Budget): Equipment & Other Accessories
2. GIA-General (Recurring Budget): Manpower (as per Govt. of India guidelines),

Consumables, Training and Workshop, Contingencies, Travel (Domestic only) Others (if any with proper justification) & Overheads as per DBT guidelines.

• Grants-in-aid support to the components of the proposal which are PRIVATE R&D institutions (including private universities and Not-for-profit NGO(s)/ VO(s)/ Trust(s)/ Research foundations) shall be up to INR 2.5 Cr. and it should be in alignment with the justification offered for the proposed cost by such partner(s). Grants to profit making institutions will be limited to only Rs.50
  lakh. Remaining amounts may be arranged by the profit making institutions themselves.
• In case the existing Bioinformatics Centers projects are successfully selected through this call, the funding support under the existing Bioinformatics Center will CEASE from the day of issuing of 1st release order for the project granted under this call. The center will process for Final Settlements of Accounts till the said date, before issuance of subsequent grant. Existing NNP projects may continue as per their tenure.
• At a given time, an Institute cannot implement two Bioinformatics Centers. Hence, a written declaration of the Executive Authority of the Institute is mandatory regarding the closure of previous Bioinformatics Center project (irrespective of the Project coordinator) in the Institute. This will a mandatory requirement while submission of financial documents.

Qualifications

• Any Indian National holding a regular position in any Indian academic and scientific research institutions (Govt./Private) may apply. This call for proposal is open to all applicants eligible for Govt. funding. The research institutions must be recognized by DSIR as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO).
• Private institutions/ NGOs should have proof of registration at ‘NGO DARPAN’ of NITI Aayog (http://ngodarpan.gov.in/), Certificate of registration under Society Registration Act, Organization’s Memorandum of Association, Organization’s Articles of Association, Valid DSIR-SIRO certificate/ DSIR in-house R&D recognition certificate (as applicable), and Duly audited account statements for the past three successive years.
• There should be at least one co-investigator from each participating institute and either one of the PI or Co-PI should have remaining service in co-terminus to the duration of the project.
• Use of free and open source Software is preferred and encouraged to for training and executing the project and to ensure usability of the data to the research community at large
• Plan of long-term sustainability need to be presented in the proposal.
• It is mandatory to submit all data to IBDC hence a data sharing plan has to be submitted along with the proposal. Proposal without data sharing plan will not be accepted.
• The extant provisions/rules of funding as applicable to extramural projects funded by the Department shall also apply to the proposals/projects received under this call.
