Bringing Professional Research Management into the Indian Science and Innovation Ecosystem.
Launched in 2018, the India Research Management Initiative (IRMI) of the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (India Alliance) aims to create robust research ecosystems in India to address global challenges.
The IRMI Annual Conference in 2021 is the first of its kind in India, aiming to bring together research leaders, research managers and administrators, funders and private sector professionals, for discussions, learning and networking in the field of research management. The conference is a virtual event and will take place on 1 – 5 February 2021.

Bringing Professional Research Management into the Indian Science and Innovation Ecosystem
Research Management is at an early stage in India and efforts are currently under way to build capacity for the profession in India. The IRMI Annual Conference in 2021 will be focused on this transition as an overall theme.
The program will focus on the following areas:
- Support services for facilitating extramural funding
- Building and managing partnerships
- Ethics in research and the cross talk with funded programs
- Linking basic research to innovation
- Developing the successful research manager
