The National Resource Centre for Education, established at National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), is one of the main components of the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), envisaged to address comprehensively all issues related to teachers, teaching, teacher preparation, and professional development. As per the PMMMNMTT guidelines, the National Resource Centre for Education is aimed to be established as an apex body with the vision of developing teachers who are able to enhance their potentials and push the frontiers of knowledge through research, networking, and sharing of existing resources in the competitive knowledge world”.

The objective of the National Resource Centre for Education (NRCE) is to develop a national repository of all resources for the use of teachers, to develop the networking among teachers in India and abroad, and to develop functional capabilities of teachers through the use of knowledge resources. All teachers in higher education will have access to the resources available on the platform. This shall form the lead step in the direction of collating at one place the different kinds of resources which are required by the teachers in the higher education sector not only to practice better teaching-learning within the classroom but also to further broaden the horizon of their professional activities. By bringing at one place the content related resources, teaching-learning related resources, the latest developments in the field of higher education, professional development opportunities, key resources developed for the support of the teachers, networking platform through online discussion groups, etc. the NRCE shall ultimately emerge as a one-stop solution for all the academic and professional requirements of the teachers. Within the present context of continuously evolving and changing requirements of the education sector, the teachers must be adequately supported so that they can perform the varied nature of expectations held from them.

NRCE in its first phase has collated resources for 10 subjects i.e. Economics, Life Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Political science, Education, Management, Sociology, and History. Also, NRCE collated resources on Teaching-learning and Research Methodology for these subjects. These resources are now being hosted on the NRCE website. Hence, on completion of the first phase, the next step indeed is to introduce the resources to the prospective users of the resources, the young and aspiring faculty in our Higher education system in order to get engaged with the 10 subject’s teachers making them aware of the resources, supporting them in using the resources and more so to get their feedback on the same. With this objective in mind, the NRCE has planned ten subject-based webinars where more than 1000 early- and mid-career teachers will undergo capacity development in teaching and research.

The objective of the webinar shall be as follows:

  1. To introduce teachers to the various education reform measures relating to CBCS, outcome-based education, learner-centred pedagogy and assessment.
  2. To introduce teachers to various resources hosted on the NRCE website.
  3. To introduce teachers to various recent research advances in the education subject.
  4. To give teachers a platform to network with peers.
