The symposium will bring together national and international experts to empower healthcare and basic science professional to gain knowledge of emerging technologies in the field of nucleic acids research to make effective decision with the goal of improving patient care.

Nucleic acids research is a rapidly growing area of research which can be applicable in health care systems. Nucleic acids are large bio molecules that play essential roles in all cells and viruses. A major function of nucleic acids involves the storage and expression of genomic information. They can form various structures which can be used to target by the use of small molecules or other environmental factors to fine tune various biological processes like replication, transcription etc. Thus holds an immense potential for therapeutic purposes. Even these nucleic structures can be used as a drug delivery systems or can be used as a drug itself. Keeping the potential of nucleic acid structures in mind they are organising this international symposium to promote the awareness and encourage young researchers to devote there interest in this field.

The expressed proteins are visualized on an acrylamide gel and compared with the un-induced cell pellets from E. coli.
This hands-on training can be a good platform for enriching the knowledge in protein expression vectors in bacteria, recombinant plasmids and purification strategies used in rDNA technology.

The Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras is planning to conduct a module on protein expression and purification in the month of December 22-23, 2023. The module gives hands-on experience in protein expression in E. coli cells and the course readily suits the UG and PG students from Life sciences and Biotechnology. Attached herewith is the flyer for the same. We request you to circulate the flyer among the students and encourage them to participate in the training. The seats are limited and the registration date is until 14th Dec 2023.

This year's theme is “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together”. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as a global threat with several pathogens being resistant to most of the currently available antibiotics. The situation calls for urgent measures for discovery of newer drugs and therapeutics. According to WHO report 2022, novel antibiotics that target the critical priority pathogens continue to be insufficiently addressed. Discovery of novel therapeutics requires collaborative effort from multiple disciplines of Science.

For more details click here
