The idea of organizing such a unique meeting was first conceptualized in 2005 and since then this event has successfully garnered popularity and prestige among the student community from diverse fields of biological sciences. The conference is now stepping into its 14th year. This year, through the motto “Envision, Innovate, Translate”, NRSM aims to follow an idea’s journey from its inception to its application.

It is an excellent opportunity for young researchers to share their research experiences and ideas. We would like to invite all enthusiastic and motivated graduate and post-doctoral students to participate in NRSM 2018.

For more information click here.

Role of bioinformatics is getting bigger and bigger in management and analysis of the enormous amount of biological data generated through research globally. Recent genome studies have shown that 50-80 % of most eukaryotic genomes composed of Transposable Elements or Mobile DNA. Due to repetitive nature of these elements, genome assembly become challenging. In this workshop we will resolve some of the problems of genome assembly and annotation.

Objectives

To train and capitalize the human resources for carrying out Next Generation Sequencing and Big-Data Analyses.

To develop bioinformatical tools to dissect elements of genomes, transcriptome, and transposons.

Target Audience

Students, faculty and scientists from academics and industries including Life Sciences, Computer Science, Medicine, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science etc., are encouraged to participate in this event.

For more information click here.

Research on Chromosome–Chromatin biology has gained tremendous impetus in recent years. Discovery of different chromatin modifying enzymes, remodeling machineries and high resolution nucleosome structure has enabled us to get deep insight of mechanisms underlying epigenetic phenomenon.

Understanding of chromatin dynamics in the context of the entire DNA templated phenomenon has become essential to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of these processes. Furthermore, the steadily increasing literature clearly suggests a strong connection between chromatin and various diseases. In India, different groups have initiated front-line research activities in this area. Over the past 14 years this forum is helping to develop collaborative research activities and perform better internationally. Keeping this in mind we are organizing the “7th Meeting of the Asian Forum of Chromosome and Chromatin Biology ” meeting this year. This meeting covers the following research areas:

1. Epigenetic regulation of memory and neurodegenerative disorders

2. Transcription Regulation through chromatin modifications and remodeling

3. Chromatin and Disease

4. Biophysics & Nanobiology of Chromatin

5. Chromatin Biology and Differentiation processes

Apart from several active scientists from India, renowned international scientists are also participating in the meeting. A successful completion of the present effort would definitely create a better scientific environment for Chromosome-Chromatin research in this part of the globe.

For more information click here.

Among the few identified global threats of the twenty-first century, antimicrobial resistance holds the pivotal position. Antimicrobial resistance is an increasingly severe threat to the community, health and the environment surrounding us. Therefore, developing new drug molecules, introducing combination therapy, repurposing of already existing drugs, adding new and useful drug delivery systems are the major priorities of the upcoming decades. Also, it is necessary to educate general people and some of the community healthcare professionals through awareness programs about the pros and cons of the indiscriminate use of antimicrobials to prevent the drug abuse and misuse, which might render an adverse effect on future antimicrobial therapy.

However, the matter needs discussion in a global forum where the present problem of antimicrobial chemotherapy is addressed with particular emphasis on the evolution of antimicrobial resistance. Moreover, it is necessary to mention that the future of antimicrobial chemotherapy depends on the possible new antimicrobial targets, agents and diagnostic / detection tools for resistant microorganisms. Furthermore, the immediate requirement is to know how to handle
these resistant microorganisms clinically so that the average life expectancy can at least be maintained, if not increased.

Read more here.
