Transformation
By Surjeet Kumar Arya (BMS alum from ANDC)
(reproduced from the annual magazine of Dept. of Biomedical Science, ANDC – BioMeR)
What is transformation?
Small thing, but great in potential
It offers boundless opportunities
To cure mankind of many maladies
Genome is easy to be transferred
From test tube to bacteria conferred.
Causes great diversity to occur
But in humans can’t still be preferred
Foreign gene on vector can be compiled,
How the hell, here is physics applied.
Never less, never more,
Just the gene transferred galore.
Technology can save a life at risk,
Offers great benefits by simple biology tricks.
A gene can behave in manners strange,
Depends how do you in plasmid arrange.
I still ain’t sure how DNA works its way,
Into the cell and gets carried away
It’s nature’s creation, at its best,
So don’t let it be lost is my behest.
Understand the phenomenon of transformation
It is the way to new creation?
